Gethsemani Baptist Church in San Luis, Arizona, is taking legal action against the city. They claim the city is stopping them from helping feed hungry people. With the help of First Liberty Institute and Snell and Wilmer L.L.P., they want to keep up their long-standing practice of giving food to those in need by the U.S.-Mexico border. Pastor Jose Manuel Castro and his church members are asking for a court order to stop the city from getting in their way. This legal battle is about the struggle between religious freedom and government rules, and it could change the way religious groups help out in their communities under the eye of the government.
The U.S. Supreme Court recently decided not to review the case of Jeremy and Mary Cox, parents from Indiana. Their child, who identifies as transgender, was taken away by the state's Department of Child Services because of the parent's religious beliefs about sex and gender. The Coxes, represented by the Indiana Family Institute and Becket Law, wanted to fight the state's decision. However, the Supreme Court's choice not to hear their case means they won't consider the parents' request to look into the removal of their child.

Jeff Iorg has been chosen as the new leader of the Executive Committee in the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), taking over after Jonathan Howe filled in temporarily following McLaurin's exit. The election had an unexpected moment when a candidate who was in the running for the position earlier decided not to continue in late January. Neal Hughes, who led the team searching for a new president, was key in picking the new leader. This change brings a fresh start for the SBC Executive Committee with Iorg at the helm.

RIDDLE ME THIS
Riddle of the Day
In whispers of old, through a sea I did part,
With faith in my heart and a staff in my hand.
Not by birth, but by action, a leader I stand.
Who am I, who spoke to the sea and it split apart?
